Men’s fashionable hair cuts with a trendy edge
Who says there’s nothing you can do for men with shorter hair? Try something different from a number 2 clipper hair cut on the side and finger length hair cut on top. There are plenty of choices to keep your hair professional enough for work and cool enough to work with at night. Let your hair grow a little longer. One key ingredient to keeping your from looking unkept with the extra length is the addition of product into your daily routine.
Depending on your hair texture we will be able to recommend waxes, pastes, pomade, or maybe a little gel. It’s not scary as long as the hair product is not over used and will make your haircut great!:
If you still want to keep it more traditional it’s still very important to have a haircut tailored to your face shape and lifestyle. This is a very retro yet stylish hair cut:Here
Here at Studio 229 Hair Design we offer maintence hair cuts in between your next visit which are 15 minute dry hair cuts that keep the hair cut looking fresh. They are free of charge and provide the opportunity for your hair cut to always look as if it is perfect.
New low maintanence hair color techniques
Love it or hate it ombre hair color has been all the rage for the past few months. “Ombre” refers to a fabric dye dipping process where the fabric is dipped in dye, resulting in a graduated color effect. Usually from dark ranging to light or vice-versa. This effect can be done in haircolor resultng in a natural, low maintanence and chic look.
Here is an example:
Another way to translate this look into a fresh, wearable look for the season is by using peek-a-boos. Peek-a-boos are a great way to add pops of hair color in a low maintanence way. The hair color is usually placed underneath, making the grow-out unnoticable.
As shown in the above pictures the peek-a-boos can be done in a natural or a pop, fashion color. We just love both of these looks.
Some more examples we love:
Coppers are always great for spring!
This is so soft and pretty!
Blonde peek-a-boos are always a great go to update brunettes. This is such an easy way to add blonde without worrying about having to get touched up regularly.
We also love these techniques of hair coloring done with bangs:
The above looks are soft and pretty, chic and hip. Below we can see ways to add pops of color with peek-a-boos underneath on the bang or fringe. This is an noncommital way to change your look and spice up your hair color in a fresh and modern way.
Whether you choose natural or pop colors peek-aboos are where it’s at and won’t break the bank doing so! Come see us at Studio 229 hair design and spa to get updated for the season!
Spring 2011 Hair Colors and Hair Cuts
We at Studio 229 Hair Design and Spa want to show you some great hair colors that compliment the hair cuts that are hot for the season. Not just a hair cut or just a hair color but images that go together. What is in for the season is fun and flirty. Bright and bold. The same trends that are in for fashion can be equally matched for your locks of hair. Here are some great examples:
This photo really shows off the vibrant red hair color that is hot right now and the shag hair cut that has come back this Spring season. Lets look at more.
This hair color is much more subtle and the hair cut is classic. See how the two work so well together? It is just beautiful. The update is in the corners in the front. It adds drama while still keeping the hair cut classic.
These straight across bangs have been in for a while now but with this warm almost orange hair color they are so, so hot for Spring. The multi-dimensional color ads color to her skin tone making her look like she has porcelain skin.
Lastly, this image shows how a textured hair cut can bring out a dimensional hair color and make a flirty, sassy and straight across bang look so cool. Even with the warm, bold colors. Whether you are going for a subtle hair color or something bold, tying together the hair cut and the hair color should be done for best effect.

New Hairstyles for Spring 2011
Spring begins this next week. What is hot in the hair industry and on the runways in Paris and Rome and Milan you may not always be able to recreate in your bathroom. There are however some easy steps that you can take to get some of these looks with minimal effort. Lets take a look at some examples:
This soft and flirty up do is easy to achieve by just rolling your hair around your hand and pinning it. Make sure that you let some pieces fall down the nape of your neck. It allows your hair to look less fixed and more flirty. This hair style can be achieved in a couple of seconds.
These messy up do’s are so in right now. Although this one may take a little bit longer to achieve it is still pretty fast. Pulling the majority of your hair to one side is also very “in” right now. Bobby Pins are used to put your hair up. The best method is to use a criss-cross technique. That is to put one pin in and then to secure it with another on top of it going the other direction. With this model, the string that is used on the top of her head is merely twisted around her hair. The hair is first twisted and then the string is wrapped around the hair to give it a little more interest. The end of the string is then tucked into the bulk of the hair. I would suggest doing this step first.
Everything seems to be soft and flirty. There are accessories too. Big bright scarfs with matching lipstick. Big boes. Whatever you do don’t give up. Practice makes the perfect messy up do. The point is you don’t want perfect. You want fun and flirty.

New Year, New Paint
We decided the salon needed a fresh start to kick of the New Year. So…we painted the ceiling, and most of the walls. We went with a grey and green. The ceiling got a fresh new coat of white. AND let me tell you… I couldn’t feel better about it. Here are some photos of the salon today. We are also lucky to have our new local artist, Cecily Harper Mitchell, she has some amazing prints and one of a kind sculptures to choose from (they are also priced to buy). We hope everyone is having a fabulous day!
from all of us here at the studio,
good day!

Work it girl!!! I love this hair look! It reminds me of Bernadette Peters.
While I am growing my hair out I tend to pull it half up just to get it out of my face. I love how these girls are doing it too!!!
